Kent Swanson

Chairman of the Board

Kent Swanson was with Accenture for over 32 years, retiring from the firm in 2001 as a Senior Partner. He held global leadership and management positions in a wide range of industries and geographies. From 2001 to 2008, he was the Board Chair of ALN Medical Management; providing outsourced services for clinic-based physician practices. Also from 2001 to 2008, he was Board Chair for Boys Hope Girls Hope of Colorado, a charitable organization providing a home and scholarship education for disadvantaged children with significant capabilities and promise. From 2002 to 2009, he was a Board member, Audit Committee member and Compensation Committee Chair for MPC Computers. Mr. Swanson graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota earning an M.S. in Business and received an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1969.

Paul Buckman

Director

Paul Buckman has more than 35 years of experience as a business leader and executive in the medical device and medical technology industries, holding positions at SentreHeart, Pathway Medical Technologies, St. Jude Medical, ev3, Scimed/Boston Scientific, and others. He has also served on the Board of Directors for businesses including SentreHeart, Sunshine Heart, Ablative Solutions, Velocimed, EndiCor, Microvena, Micro Therapeutics, ev3 and has served as the Chief Executive Officer for Conventus Orthopaedics since 2013. Mr. Buckman received his B.A. and M.B.A from Western Michigan University.

John Deedrick

Director

John Deedrick is an experienced senior executive with 19 years’ experience in healthcare venture capital and business consulting. Mr. Deedrick also has 14 years of experience in the high tech defense industry. He was Co-founder and General Partner for Accuitive Medical Ventures and has served as a corporate venture capitalist for Mayo Clinic. Mr. Deedrick also serves as President and CEO of CHIP Solutions and is Founder and Chairman of GreatDeeds, a Minnesota non-profit organization. Mr. Deedrick has served on the board of numerous early-stage healthcare companies over the last 19 years. Mr. Deedrick received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern College (Roseville, MN) and his MBA from St. Thomas University (St. Paul, MN).

Dan Goldberger

Director

Dan Goldberger has more than 25 years of experience in the medical technology and device industry. Prior to joining Bacterin, Dan was the CEO of Sound Surgical Technologies from April 2007 through its merger with Solta Medical (Nasdaq SLTM) in February 2013. During his career, he has held several executive leadership positions within the medical device industry, as the CEO and Director of Xcorporeal Inc. and President of Medical Group of OSI Systems. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. Dan is a named inventor on more than 60 U.S. patents.

David Kirschman, M.D.

Director

Dr. Kirschman is an inventor and entrepreneur with an extensive background in the clinical and corporate aspects of the medical device industry. He completed training in neurosurgery specializing in complex spinal surgery. Dr. Kirschman has 48 issued and 13 patents pending for a wide range of spinal devices. Dr. Kirschman was the Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Xtant Medical, and President of the X-spine subsidiary. He was the Founder and CEO of X-spine Systems, Inc. which was incorporated in 2004, until the combination of Bacterin and X-spine creating Xtant Medical in 2015. Dr. Kirschman received his BS in Biological Science cum laude from Colorado State University and M.D. from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Michael Lopach

Director

Michael Lopach is a certified public accountant with over 40 years of accounting experience. Mr. Lopach spent 27 years of his career with Galusha, Higgins, Galusha & Co., the largest privately held accounting firm in Montana and northern Idaho, where he served as president and CEO. In 1999, Mr. Lopach founded Lopach & Carparelli PC, an accounting firm that focuses on medical practitioners. Mr. Lopach received his MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Lopach serves as chairman of the Board’s Audit Committee.

Rudy Mazzocchi

Director

Rudy Mazzocchi brings 27 years of senior management, intellectual property management and financing experience in the medical technology industry. He has founded and led five early-stage medical device companies from development through successful acquisitions in fields ranging from cardiology to neurosurgery. He has served as Chief Executive Officer of ELENZA, Inc. since 2010, and concurrently serves as Executive Chairman of Establishment Labs. Mr. Mazzocchi has previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of NovaVision, Inc., Image-Guided NEUROLOGICS (Medtronic 2005), and MICROVENA (ev3 – Covidien 2010). He has also served as Managing Director of Accuitive Medical Ventures, and most recently served as Executive Chairman of Vascular Pathways, Inc (C.R. Bard 2015). He has participated and led various companies through acquisition events. Mr. Mazzocchi received his B.S. in Life Sciences/Biochemistry from the University of Pittsburgh, and completed graduate studies in biophysics at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Eric Timko

Director

Eric Timko has over 25 years in the medical industry, most recently serving as CEO of Blue Belt Technologies, a company that was acquired by Smith & Nephew earlier this year. Prior to joining Blue Belt, Mr. Timko was the President and CEO of NeuroVasx, Inc., a Minneapolis-based company developing a unique therapeutic device to treat hemorrhagic stroke. Previously, he served as President of Carl Zeiss Surgical, Inc., and as Vice President of Siemens Medical Systems, Inc. Mr. Timko possesses a proven track record in building an effective and profitable sales and distribution organization and he brings vast experience in medical technologies at both the start-up and commercial stages. Mr. Timko received his B.A. in Communication from Kent State University.
